The coziest sushi spot in Newton. They offer more than just Sushi, which includes Udon noodles and rice bowls. Great portion sizes too.
My wife and I came here the other day, we live just across the street. I'm so glad we visited! Years ago I visited Sushi Man at their old location, and now that we've moved here I'm so glad we are so close! We had the Karage Fried Chicken, Dragon Maki, Spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura.
First time visiting! It was quite impressive! Great quality sashimi and generous portion too! Every dish we ordered was delicious! Will definitely come back!
Dear Mr . Sushi Man & Wifey, Chinese & Japanese Excellence!! I love Sushi Man & Wifey ; Why are you so excellent? The freshest sushi these lips have touched . Including the soft shell crab at the most incredible prices . I have travelled 60 counties and no comparison. I thought you closed . Yet you moved to the other side of the street . I have missed three years of your excellence. I am so happy I drove by the other side of the street today to find you . My stomach did cartwheels with the freshness of your sushi and soft shell crab .
I really like this Japanese restaurant! I was in a hurry today so I just ordered takeout. Eel and beef tongue Don is very delicious and authentic. This makes me miss the eel rice and beef tongue that I had in Kyoto and Shanghai many years ago. They were tender and juicy, absolutely fresh and delicious! Volcano Maki is also amazing. The prawn tempura is crispy, tender and delicious, mixed with the rice, tobiko and tuna wrapped around it, making it unforgettable. The environment in the store is also very elegant. Next time I will definitely invite my relatives and friends to the store to enjoy the delicious food.
Sushi Man is a restaurant with a long history in the Newton area, first being located in a smaller area right off of Route 9 before moving to their current location a few years ago. The staff are really friendly and make the food quite quickly, reminds me of the service we used to get in the past. The food was of good quality and how I remember it. It does tend to be on the expensive side for these meals, but was still pretty good and tasted well. The sushi was fresh, with good rice to fish ratio and presented well. The udon had a good broth that went well with the noodles, and had some toppings and sides that were crisp and tasty.
Outstanding sushi!!! Rice was seasoned perfectly paired with fresh fish! I’ve been ordering from Sushi Man for 10 years and let me tell you their sushi has always been consistent and delicious.
Chef Toriyama has some of the best sushi in Boston, hands-down! Little nuances that just make everything pop the vegetables tasted alarmingly, fresh good texture, really stunning depth the flavor. Almost reminds me of picking vegetables out of the garden. Not the usual slightly sterile taste, and texture that you find from modern restaurants. The way that he seasons the rice is a little bit unique has a nice slightly nutty flavor to it. Really everything was incredibly well, balanced, and thought out. The atmosphere is also stunning, soft, jazz music in the background sunlight gently fills the room The staff all seem to know one another and be well connected and the entire vibe just feels warm. Even the preparation & assembly of each role is different but in a charming and unique way. You can definitely tell that Chef has been at this for over the last two decades. I eat at least Sushi twice a week and I think this is gonna be my new go to spot.
